Traditional Chinese Medicine
Extensive research has been done in China on the treatment of infertility. Here is an example of the usefulness TCM in treating women infertility problems that is related to immune system. In the trial, the female immune system was found to attack the husband's sperm that was causing the difficulty to conceive.
For a study of female immunological infertility by Chen Xiaoping, researchers used Guyin Decoction (ginseng, rehmannia, dioscorea, cornus, cuscuta, polygala, schizandra, and licorice) to treat 60 women with infertility attributed to antisperm immune response. Treatment time was thirty days, with the course being repeated up to three months. A control group of 25 similar cases received prednisolone and vitamin E. Immune measures decreased significantly in the herb treatment group, but not in the drug treatment group. In the herb treatment group, 32 percent became pregnant. In the group receiving drug treatment, 24 percent became pregnant.
